Fijian seasonal workers have greatly benefitted from ANZ’s MoneyMinded financial inclusion program.
An independent report by the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology has found that the program has significantly strengthened the financial knowledge, skills and capabilities of seasonal workers.
The report found that 96 percent of seasonal workers in the study reported that the MoneyMinded program had a positive impact on their financial well-being.
ANZ Fiji Country Head Rabih Yazbek says there was overwhelming evidence that the program helped seasonal workers to make most of their income from the work trips and invest back into their household and community.
Yazbek says many were able to diversify income streams, invest in their homes or small businesses, prepare for unexpected expenses and afford better education for their children.
He adds by promotion and encouraging financial literacy and education with seasonal workers, they are helping build a savings culture and reducing the reliance on remittances.
