Balbir Singh plans to turn unused land in Fiji into chilli farms, helping local farmers grow and sell chilli products like sauces, powders, pickles and fresh exports.

Singh is pursuing a Doctor of Philosophy in Farm Tourism Management and wants to ensure that the majority of income stays within the local community.

In an interview with fijivillage News, Singh says he plans to launch trial projects by next January in regions such as Tavua, Taveuni, Labasa and Sigatoka and begin online registration for farmers, gathering crucial data to identify potential farming sites.

He says his vision is to overcome challenges by focusing on the long-term benefits for farmers, enabling them to earn sustainable incomes and invest in better homes, vehicles, and education.

Singh says he wants to secure investment from farmers and private sector partners and plans to seek government support as the project scales.

He further says his ambitious vision is to position Fiji as a key player in the global chilli market, driving the nation toward agricultural prosperity.

Singh adds that through his outreach on the “Futuristic Farms International” Facebook page and TikTok, his videos have attracted manny people, generating widespread support from landowners who are eager to join the venture.
