The Rooster Chicken Fijian Drua Women’s side had set the standard for the Super W competition in the first year of participation back in 2022 and the other unions started following suit.

This was highlighted by head coach Mosese Rauluni as the team looks forward to a new season ahead of them this year.

Rauluni says fast forward to two years later, other unions in the Super W competition are following the Drua Women’s structures by starting their programs early and recruiting players earlier than they used to do before.

He says they are now doing this because they want to compete with the Drua Women after seeing how they dominated the competition ever since they joined.

He adds we have natural athletes in our team and the other teams are trying to get that.

Rauluni says the Australian government has even stepped in to invest in women’s rugby as they try to catch up with the Drua women in terms of Pacific professional programs.

He says they are catching up, but the Drua Women will try to keep setting the pace and keep staying ahead.

The Fijian Drua Women will kick start their Super W title defence against the Queensland Reds women on the 17th of March, 2024 in Brisbane.
