Fiji will open an embassy in Jerusalem in Israel, which marks a new chapter in the relationship between Fiji and Israel and reflects Fiji’s commitment to deeper diplomatic engagement and cooperation.

President Ratu Naiqama Lalabalavu received a courtesy visit from the non-resident Ambassador of Israel to Fiji and the Pacific, Roi Rosenbilt, at the State House.

Ambassador Rosenbilt is on a two-day tour of Fiji, and the President took this opportunity to thank the Israeli Government and the people of Israel for their unwavering support to Fiji and its people over the years.

The President says Fiji and Israel have forged meaningful partnerships across a range of areas, including security, peacekeeping, agriculture, the development of cooperatives in Fiji.

He says recently, the two countries have worked closely to address the challenges posed by climate change.

Ratu Naiqama says Israel’s world-renowned, groundbreaking technology has played a central role in this collaboration, particularly in areas such as water management, sustainable agriculture, and renewable energy solutions.

Meanwhile, the meeting also highlighted opportunities for sharing knowledge, innovation, and technical assistance in support of Fiji’s development priorities.
