There are two new border quarantine cases of COVID-19 in Fiji.

The first case is a 22-year-old man who travelled to Durban, South Africa and arrived in Nadi on flight Fj1410 from Auckland.

He returned positive while undergoing 14-day quarantine in a border quarantine facility in Nadi.

According to the Ministry of Health, the man has no symptoms at the moment and further investigations are underway to determine whether this is a historical case of COVID-19.

The second case is a 66-year-old woman who arrived from Sacramento, United States.

She returned a weak positive result during routine quarantine testing while undergoing mandatory 14-day quarantine.

The woman has no symptoms and is considered a historical case who was likely infected and later recovered before arriving in Fiji. Both have been transferred to the isolation ward at the Lautoka hospital.

Fiji currently has three active border quarantine cases of COVID-19.
