Police Commissioner Brigadier-General Sitiveni Qiliho says there has been a general lackadaisical attitude to COVID restrictions recently and that has been worrying for the Fiji Police Force, the Ministry of Health and the Government.
Fijivillage has noticed people not wearing masks in public indoor spaces, passengers in buses now being increasingly seen without masks although the health regulations require people to wear masks and people not following the 2 metres physical distancing in office spaces.
Qiliho says they have discussed with their Minister and the Minister for Health regarding those who are not following the COVID-19 protocols.
He adds they had some briefings on having surge operations in Fiji to enforce the measures that are supposed to be in place.
The Police Commissioner says everybody must know that the common enemy is COVID-19 and any other variants that may develop as a result of that.
