Fiji Police collaborate with Korea to counter border-less crime

In a bid to counter the rapidly evolving criminal landscape brought by borderless crime, the Acting Commissioner of Police Juki Fong Chew met the Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Fiji Kim Jin Hyun yesterday at Police Headquarters.

Kim was accorded a quarter guard ceremony of welcome and had a brief meeting with the Acting Commissioner of Police, the Assistant Commissioner of Police – Crime (ACP) Mesake Waqa, Director of International Relations Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Ulaiasi Ravula, Director Criminal Investigations Department SSP Loraini Seru, before being given an overview of the Fiji Police Force’s operations by the Director Planning SSP Pauliasi Colamoto.

Chew acknowledged the mutual working arrangements that exist between the Fiji Police and the Korean National Police Agency, as well as engagement opportunities presented on the back of invitations to attend events such as the International Police Summit.

Kim expressed his Government’s desire in strengthening Police to Police cooperation through specific areas of training and education opportunities available at Korean Police learning institutions, in areas such as cybercrime, noting the sophisticated nature in which cyber criminals operate.
