The Fiji Police Force is acknowledging the New Zealand Police for supporting them in their efforts to ensure robust and effective policing systems are in place to combat crime.
This assistance was directed towards the Reform and Restructure review of the Fiji Police’s human resource capabilities, considering the increasing demands on law enforcement.
Police say the goal is to develop a strategic plan that meets policing needs over the next five to ten years.
Commissioner of Police Rusiate Tudravu says the assistance allows them to achieve their goal of stability, which would result in growth.
Tudravu says the Reform and Restructure remain key priorities in addressing human resource needs as policing demands continue to evolve.
He says the exercise conducted over the weekend would also assist with their 2025 – 2026 budget submissions for the resourcing of adequate manpower and resources for effective policing.
Police say the earlier exercise was scheduled for completion in 2022, and the new submission would also include new specialised units, that were established out of necessity to address emerging crime trends.
