The Fiji Police Force needs more vehicles and is also hoping for the continuous increase in manpower within the force.

This was highlighted by the Chief Operations Officer, ACP Livai Driu on fijivillage Straight Talk with Vijay Narayan.

When asked on whether they need more vehicles, ACP Driu says the enforcement of the law is important, and the force needs more vehicles in attending to reports and investigations.

He further says they have already submitted their budget and are assured by the government for an increase in police vehicles.

The Assistant Commissioner says there are also stakeholders who are willing to donate vehicles as well.

When questioned on the issue of manpower in the force, ACP Driu says they do have issues as they have not reached 5000 officers yet.

He says looking at the ratio, 1 police officer looks at 194 members of the public which excludes the visitors.

ACP Driu acknowledges the government of the day as they are now recruiting more officers and have better strategic planning for the next 5 years as well.
