Fiji Immigration strengthens border security with 36 new officers undergoing training

People can expect an improvement in service at the Immigration Department as 36 new immigration officers are undergoing training on border enforcement, immigration laws, visa processing, human trafficking, and people smuggling.

While speaking during the Induction Training Programme at Fiji Police Academy in Nasova, Permanent Secretary for Home Affairs and Immigration, Mason Smith says they are entering a mission that is not only critical to our national security but also pivotal to our identity and economic growth.

He says their training would serve as the foundation for their success in the immigration field.

Smith has also reminded the officers of the department’s core values, including transparency, accountability, integrity, and professionalism.

The Immigration Department says the training is supported by the Australian Border Force, Immigration New Zealand, and the International Organisation for Migration.
