Fiji Chamber of Commerce welcomes the new Government and its intentions for business and economic growth – Dr Ali
Chamber President, Dr. Nur Bano Ali

The Fiji Chamber of Commerce and Industry has welcomed the new Government and its intentions to maintain a conducive environment for business and economic growth.

Chamber President, Dr. Nur Bano Ali says they note with positivism and relief the statements by both the Minister for Trade, Cooperatives, Small and Medium Enterprises, Manoa Kamikamica and the Minister for Finance, Prof. Biman Prasad that the current policies will continue and their assurance that changes if any to taxation and policy will be made in consultation with business and relevant stakeholders.

She says such positive sentiments by the new Government reiterates and reinforces the importance of consistency and continuity in policy for business planning and strategic direction.

Ali further says this is the kind of support and certainty that business and commerce needs to continue growth and provide the economic activity that is necessary for employment especially as we have just come out of COVID and have achieved a full year of normal business for 2022.

She says the Chamber looks forward to working with both the Ministers in our usual partnership and mutual approach to defining and maintaining government policies that affect business and commerce.

She adds the Chamber looks forward to hosting both the Ministers at the earliest opportunity for a session with the Chamber members.
