More than 200 cancer patients are in need of oxygen concentrators for which the Fiji Cancer Society aims to raise close to $60,000 through its Bushell’s Fiji's Biggest Morning Tea campaign.
While speaking during the Motibhai Business Park in Legalega, Nadi this morning, Fiji Cancer Society CEO, Belinda Chan says last year they had 186 patients accessing medical oxygen and this year until May, they have had 72 patients accessing medical oxygen.
Chan says although the number may seem small, the actual cost of hiring medical concentrators and medical oxygen tanks is very expensive.
She says based on last year’s numbers on patients assisted and what they have assisted so far, this year they are probably looking at assisting a little over 200 people with medical oxygen.
