Fiji Bitter 7s Series adopts strict drug testing policy

Fiji Bitter 7s Series adopts strict drug testing policy
Tournament Director and Organizer, James Vunituraga

The Fiji Bitter Sevens Series that will kick off with the Kadavu 7s has now adopted the strict drug testing policy with an aim to maintain a clean and drug-free environment.

The policy which was implemented at the recent Brimstone 7s tournament requires players to undergo drug testing before the event and if any player tests positive for illicit drugs, not only will the player be disqualified, but their entire team will also face disqualification.

Tournament Director and Organizer, James Vunituraga says under the theme Say No To Drugs & Keep Rugby Clean, the tournament aims to combat drug use in Kadavu.

Vunituraga emphasised that there will be no further discussions if any player is found in possession of drugs or has tested positive for illicit drugs before the game.

He says this is the first time such a policy has been implemented in the Fiji Bitter Sevens Series and will continue throughout the 12 tournaments.

Vunituraga says the policy benefits not only rugby but all sports in Fiji, the community, the vanua and the future rugby players aspiring to represent Fiji.

He also called on all team managers to advise their players before arriving in Kadavu, highlighting that this will become the new standard for the series.

The Fiji Bitter Kadavu 7s will be held from this Thursday to Saturday at the Namalata School Ground in Vunisea, Kadavu.
