Continuous heavy rain, thunder and lightning activity in most parts of Fiji, especially in the interior and the highlands for the past few days is causing power outages in the Central Division.

Energy Fiji Limited says this caused a major unplanned power outage on the 132,000 volts transmission line that transports power supply from the Wailoa Power Station to the Cunningham Road Zone Substation resulting in an unplanned outage at 1:59pm to their customers in the Central Division.

They say their teams have been able to restore supply on the 132,000 volts transmission line supplying to the Cunningham Road Zone Substation.

EFL says the power supply to the affected areas is being gradually and systematically restored and depending on the weather, the power supply will be completely restored this afternoon.
