Farmers are not only food producers but the backbone of national economic empowerment - Rabuka

More than a hundred farmers in Fiji have gathered to attend the Fiji Farmers Economic Summit 2025, aiming to raise their voices about the challenges they face in running their businesses and providing for their families.

While speaking at the opening of the summit, Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka reminded the farmers that their work goes beyond just farming.

Rabuka says farmers need to collaborate with the government, civil society, and stakeholders to build resilient livelihoods.

He emphasized that farmers are not only food producers but also environmental stewards and the backbone of national economic empowerment.

The Prime Minister also highlighted the importance of working with farmers to identify issues, empower them, provide training, and introduce innovative, inclusive ideas to transform the agricultural sector.

The Farmers Summit is currently underway at the FMF Gymnasium in Suva and will end tomorrow.
