Fiji Secondary Schools Rugby Union Vice President, Savenaca Muamua confirms that they will stand by their decision and the Nabua Secondary School Under 17 team will play in the Vodafone Super Deans national quarter-final tomorrow.

Minister for Education, Aseri Radrodro earlier directed that Bucalevu Secondary will play instead of Nabua Secondary.

Bucalevu's U17 team was disqualified from the competition after they fielded an Under 16 player.

Muamua says the fixture remains unchanged.

He adds that the FSSRU committee remains firm in its stance and Bucalevu will not play tomorrow.

When contacted by fijivillage News, Radrodro maintained that he is standing by his directive that Bucalevu should play in the quarter final.

He is also impressing that the rules be changed.

Radrodro told fijivillage News that these laws of the Fiji Secondary Schools Rugby Union look obsolete, where they are not taking into consideration rural school settings, limited students to play etc.

Radrodro says the Ministry of Education oversees student welfare, and the State’s interest must always be fairness and equity.

He also says he understands that Bucalevu Secondary has also lodged a complaint against Nabua Secondary, and he asks whether that has been investigated.

Radrodro asks who do the Fiji Secondary Schools Rugby Union report to, and what assurance do we have that they are acting in the best interest of all the children, students and schools engaged in the Deans Competition.
