FRIEND Fiji is aiming to provide opportunities to around 2,500 people to learn skills that they can use to earn a living.

FRIEND Fiji will be conducting their first face to face training session tomorrow with about 60 people since the second wave of COVID-19 began this year.

The training includes soap making, coconut charcoal making, food processing, processing seafood that people can store for eating and also for sale.

Founder and CEO, Sashi Kiran says this has been made possible through the $840,000 grant from USAID. She adds they have already provided training to 200 people virtually.

Kiran says these people have been impacted by COVID-19 where they have been unemployed or underemployed.

She says they had to fill out an expression of interest form to be able to be selected for training.
