FNU urges people to end stigma and get tested

As 126 deaths last year were caused by HIV, the Fiji National University is urging people to end stigma and get tested to know their status.

They say when people are afraid of experiencing discrimination, they are less likely to be tested or treated for HIV.

FNU says one should imagine the fear of facing judgement simply for seeking essential healthcare, this is the reality for many living with or at risk of HIV.

They are encouraging everyone to create a supportive community by getting tested, encouraging others to do the same, practicing safe sex, and using condoms.

Free testing is available at FNU Nasinu UniClinic, Hub Clinic, Rodwell Road, Suva, and Lautoka Hub, Naviti Street.
