Being named the Fiji Development Bank Rookie Entrepreneur of the Year has only fueled the ambitions of Rajnel Kumar and Aachaal Reddy to expand their first-of-a-kind rolled ice cream business called Sweet Sip.
Kumar, the owner of Sweet Sip shared with fijivillage that winning the award has inspired and motivated them to push forward with their expansion plans.
He recounted how their business started when Fijians were still trying to recover from the COVID-19 pandemic in 2022 and it was a time when opportunities were hard due to the constraints imposed by the pandemic.
He says through these challenges, the idea of starting a business took place when they were provided opportunities and support to turn their dreams into reality.
Kumar says when they received the grant from the government, they invested in a machine from overseas and launched their business by selling their rolled ice cream at various events.
Director Aachaal Reddy says being part of the Rock Market at Garden City today has inspired them to try and be part of the upcoming Vodafone Fiji Hibiscus Festival that will be held from August 31st to September 7th at the Suva Civic Centre and Suva Foreshore.
Reddy adds their goal is to open a shop that will provide job opportunities for their family members.
Sweet Sip currently offers 31 different flavours for customers to choose from.
