Fijian Competition and Consumer Commission is issuing an urgent warning regarding a new, deceptive scam circulating through messaging platforms and social media promising a large return on a small investment.

FCCC say this scheme uses persuasive language to lure victims, claiming they can turn a small investment of $100 into $5,000 within 20 minutes.

They says the scammers attempt to create a false sense of legitimacy by urging people to send money via mobile payments like M-PAiSA or through direct bank transfer.

FCCC are strongly advising the public that any offer promising such an unrealistically high return on a small, immediate transfer of money is a scam.

FCCC warns that these messages are designed solely to steal your funds, and any money sent will be lost.

They say the public should not respond or engage, and under no circumstances transfer money.

The Commission adds they are actively collaborating with the Anti-Scam Taskforce and other relevant stakeholders to protect Fijians from these fraudulent activities.
