FCCC assists in making arrangements with FSC and traders to normalise sugar supply
Fijian Competition and Consumer Commission.

The Fijian Competition and Consumer Commission says it has provided assistance in making arrangements with the Fiji Sugar Corporation and traders in an effort to normalise sugar supply.

The FCCC says logistics disruptions were noted in the delivery of sugar and several supermarkets were impacted recently.

It says the monitoring teams managed to liaise and make arrangements with relevant agencies including distributors and retailers for the movement of sugar through the borders.

The Commission says it is in touch with the retailers and the distributors and are regularly checking on the stock for other daily use items such as potato, onion and others.

Meanwhile, the Commission conducted 1,170 inspections for stock and supply surveillance and COVID-19 safety measures since 20th April, covering the Central, Western and Northern Divisions.

It says all 52 traders were found practicing COVID-19 safety measures.
