Fiji Airways Men’s National 7s coach Gareth Baber says they are still in discussion with Fiji Rugby Union on the extension of his contract but nothing has yet been confirmed.
Meanwhile, Fiji Rugby CEO John O’Connor had earlier stated that Baber has shown interest in continuing in the position for the Olympic Games in July next year.
Now with the leftover tournaments in the 2019/2020 HSBC 7s series being cancelled and the Fiji Men’s 7s team finishing in third place, the question remains as to what is the FRU’s plan for the Olympic Games next year.
Baber took over the job in October 2016 and his contract is expected to expire in December this year.
