If you are travelling towards Suva or will be on your way towards Nausori along Kings Highway this afternoon, please look for alternative routes as additional traffic is expected after the Fiji Roads Authority confirmed that Ratu Mara Road from Lakeba Street to Shalimar Street will be reduced to two lanes from 2.30pm to 8pm tonight.
FRA says works will continue during peak hours and is anticipated to be completed by 8pm.
When asked by fijivillage, FRA’s Acting CEO, Kamal Prasad says sealing works are being done and they cannot delay it and do it later in the night.
Prasad says they are fine with additional traffic during peak hours at the cost of getting the road fixed.
He adds other alternative routes such as Grantham Road, Milverton Road and Gaji Road going towards and out of Suva have been fixed and can be used.
Drivers are being advised to factor in extra travel time if you are travelling through the area.
FRA says drivers must slow down as indicated by the temporary traffic signs, follow the instructions of the site traffic personnel, and pay attention while driving along the construction sites.
