Education Ministry staff, heads of schools and teachers come together to assist affected families

Senior management and staff from the Ministry of Education Headquarters, Divisional and District Offices, heads of schools and teachers have voluntarily come together to provide families in need with food rations during this challenging times.

The team consulted the Advisory Councilors and Turaga-ni-Koro’s to identify families that were in need of support and distributed the 100 packs in Nausori on Sunday.

They will continue with this initiative and plan to assist hundreds of affected families in other areas.

A government statement says all contributions have been made voluntarily and no funds from the Ministry have been utilized towards this initiative.

Minister for Education Rosy Akbar says the team has worked tirelessly with suppliers to prepare food packs for those in need and she is humbled by their generosity.

Akbar says she is extremely proud to lead a team of good hearted individuals who have come forward out of their own will to assist their fellow Fijians.

Akbar adds those that have the capacity to assist should contribute in any way possible as it is important that we stand together for one another rather than politicizing the situation.
