Upon enriching the iTaukei culture and traditional protocols, the Early Childhood students of Natoaika District School portrayed their traditional skills during the Early Childhood Education Week held at their school compound earlier this week.

Early Childhood Education Week was headed with the theme, Early Learning Matters: Learning Through Connection.

The Traditional ceremony is one of the best displays of culture ever witnessed in Fiji today.

During the ceremony, the students presented the Vakasobu, Qalovi, Sevusevu, Vakamamaca, Qaravi ni Yaqona Vakaturaga and na Wase ni Yaqona Vakaturaga and followed up by 5-year-old Mereti Ritoma presenting a whales tooth to acknowledge a Fijian dance (i luva ni vesa) from the YPD meke group.

The kindergarten students were trained for 3 weeks on how to present the traditional ceremonies with the help of their teachers and parents.

While on his official address, the iTaukei Affair Director Institute for iTaukei Language and Culture, Emosi Caniogo highlighted the importance of protecting our traditional knowledge and influencing our children to learn the traditional protocols.
