Liverpool equalled the biggest victory in English Premier League history as they kick-started their season in spectacular fashion by thrashing newly promoted Bournemouth 9-0 at Anfield.
Liverpool got off to the perfect start through a goal each from Luis Diaz and Harvey Elliott in the opening five minutes.
Other goals were scored by Trent Alexander-Arnold, Roberto Firmino Virgil van Dijk and Fabio Carvalho while Bournemouth’s Chris Mepham scored an own goal.
Diaz also scored the last goal of the match.
In other matches this morning, Manchester United beat Southampton 1-0, the match between Brentford and Everton finished at 1-1, Brighton beat Leeds 1-0 and Chelsea beat Leicester 2-1.
