EIA conducted before court approved 4.15 tonne meth destruction – SSP Vusonilawe

Director of Operations Senior Superintendent of Police Kasiano Vusonilawe says before the Court issued the notice for destruction for 4.15 tonnes of methamphetamine, they had demanded the Ministry of Environment to conduct the Environmental Impact Assessment.

Vusonilawa highlighted this in response to rising concerns from the public that smoke from the destruction of methamphetamine at the Dignified Crematorium in Davuilevu Housing could cause harm.

He says when the Ministry gave the green light, the court issued the notice.

He adds they did not do this just because they thought it was right but had to liaise with other government ministries to assist them.
