Drivers reminded to take responsibility after concerns regarding reckless driving raised

Drivers are being reminded to take responsibility for their safety and that of other road users whether the Police or the Land Transport Authority are present or not.

Concerns are being raised as in the past few weeks, minor accidents have become more frequent with at least 1 accident every other day along the Suva to Nausori highway, with one day recording at least 4 accidents due to bad weather.

People driving and travelling along the Suva to Nausori corridor are also raising concerns about drivers, mostly taxi drivers not following road rules, running red lights and not following the right-hand rule which, according to them seems to be the cause of most of the accidents.

Director of Traffic, Senior Superintendent of Police Mitieli Divuana says Police and LTA are out on the roads every day both on the enforcement and awareness side of traffic operations.

While reminding drivers to take responsibility, SSP Divuana says it is about changing mindsets.
