52 families have taken a major step towards home ownership after receiving provisional offer letters under Housing Authority’s Tavakubu Subdivision in Lautoka.

The offer letters were presented by the Minister for Housing and Local Government Maciu Nalumisa in a ceremony this week, marking a significant milestone in the government's ongoing efforts to provide secure and affordable housing for Fijians.

Of the 52 recipients, 47 were sitting tenants, while five were tenants from the Public Rental Board.

The issuance of these letters grants long-awaited security of tenure and an opportunity for these families to become first-time homeowners.

In addition to the offer letters, four customers also received official confirmation that their housing accounts had been fully settled under the Housing Authority's Mortgage Protection Insurance scheme.

The total amount covered was more than $380,000, providing these families with financial closure and peace of mind.

Nalumisa says this initiative reflects the government's continued commitment to empowering communities through inclusive, safe, resilient, and sustainable housing solutions.

He reiterated that housing is not just about providing shelter, but building strong, secure, and hopeful futures for Fijian families.
