Crusaders welcome Fijian Drua and Moana Pacifika to Super Rugby

Crusaders coach Scott Robertson and halfback Mitchell Drummond say they are really excited to see the inclusion of two Pacific Island teams in Super Rugby from next year.

The Fijian Drua and Moana Pasifika have been granted conditional licences to join a new Super Rugby competition, however the Drua will need close to NZ$10 million per year to feature in the competition.

Robertson says it is the start of a new chapter for New Zealand Rugby and these teams get to bring their own little bit of culture.

He says playing in Fiji is tough but it is just another aspect to Super Rugby and they are excited about it.

Halfback, Mitchell Drummond says the flair the Pacific Island teams and people play with is great for the game.

Drummond says they have all seen what those players can do with the ball and it is going to provide a lot of exciting rugby moving forward.

The Crusaders will take on the Chiefs at 7.05pm tomorrow while the Highlanders will face the Blues at 7.05pm tonight.
