Court bails man who allegedly used fake account to post defamatory comments against a senior member of govt

A man who allegedly used a fake account to post defamatory comments against a senior member of the government has been granted bail by the Suva Magistrates Court.

56-year-old Kishore Kumar is the first to be charged under the Cybercrime Act of 2021, for allegedly using a fake account to post defamatory comments.

Acting Assistant Commissioner of Crime Mesake Waqa says Kumar was charged with one count of unauthorized access acts in relation to computer data and one count of criminal intimidation.

Kumar was produced in the Suva Magistrates Court yesterday and bailed with strict conditions.

The matter has been adjourned to the 10th of January, 2024.
