SODELPA Leader Viliame Gavoka has hit back on claims made by the FijiFirst Leader Voreqe Bainimarama at a rally at Nausori where Bainimarama said that the opposition were behind the vandalism of FijiFirst campaign materials.

During the rally, Bainimarama had claimed in the iTaukei language that their banners were ripped off and the vehicles were stoned because they supported FijiFirst.

While responding to Bainimarama, Gavoka says they totally deplore any activities that is undemocratic.

He says the SODELPA people are law abiding people.

Gavoka adds if people remember they were set-up in 2001, fundamentally to convince the people, that coups and violence do nothing for anybody, especially, the iTaukei community.

Meanwhile the Fiji Police Force has raised concern that a number of acts of vandalism and intimidation targeting only the FijiFirst Party has been reported.

Police Commissioner Brigadier General Sitiveni Qiliho is reminding Fijians that such acts of vandalism, intimidation and political thuggery carry heavy penalties under Fijian laws.

He says since such acts fall under electoral offences, they will collaborate with FICAC to conduct investigations.
