Fiji Corrections Service Senior Psychologist, Elenani Vuru says communities are becoming the second prison for released inmates as they are not accepted into the community.

She says this is one of the challenges faced by their organisation.

Speaking at the Fiji Corrections Service/Assembly of God Church Symposium at the Novotel Hotel in Suva, Vuru says most of the offenders are not accepted when they are released and are also excluded from family activities.

She further says including these people in family activities is important in changing their lives.

She adds this is a collaborative effort and the FCS cannot do it alone.

Vuru stressed the role of the faith-based organisations is important in tackling this issue as they can change the mindset of the communities.
