About 92 farms have been destroyed in Nabitu Settlement according to Sigatoka farmer Abhay Sharma.
Sharma says each farmer has about 5 acres of crops which has been destroyed.
He says he was harvesting about 20 bags of eggplants before Tropical Cyclone Harold had struck and now he is not even able to harvest any for his own family’s consumption.
Sharma says those farmers who had seeds have started replanting vegetables such as cucumber, french bean, long bean and cabbage, tomatoes, cauliflower while other farmers are hoping to get seeds from the Ministry of Agriculture.
Meanwhile, Sharma says about three houses were also destroyed during the cyclone and numerous other houses were also damaged.
Sharma, who is also the Head Priest of the Nabitu Ram Temple says the roof of their community’s twenty-year-old temple also blew off due to the strong winds during the cyclone.

The priest says the temple has sustained about $6,000 worth of damage where holy books, statues and several musical instruments and the sound system were also destroyed.
He is seeking assistance from members of the community to assist in reconstructing the temple.
