Chiefs and Māori All Blacks back Sean Wainui has died in a car crash this morning
Bay of Plenty police issued a statement this morning saying one person had died after a single-vehicle crash at McLaren Falls Park.
A family member confirmed that Wainui was the driver.
Wainui played 10 games for the Māori All Blacks and 44 Super Rugby appearances for the Chiefs, scoring a competition-record five tries against the Waratahs in June.
