The Chiefs have handed veteran Liam Messam a shock recall to their squad, with injuries striking their loose forward stocks.
The franchise announced that Kaylum Boshier, Mitchell Karpik and Simon Parker had all suffered season-ending injuries, so have called in Messam and Taranaki’s Tom Florence.
Boshier sustained a shoulder injury during last Friday’s 26-24 win over the Hurricanes and scans have confirmed he requires ‘stabilisation’ surgery and approximately six months out of the game.
The Chiefs will play the Blues at 7.05pm Saturday while the Hurricanes will face the Highlanders at 7.05pm Friday.
