Chaudhry welcomes Army Commander’s statement that the democratic process must be honoured by respecting the outcome of the elections

The Fiji Labour Party has welcomed the statement by the Army Commander that the democratic process must be honoured by respecting the outcome of the elections.

Party Leader Mahendra Chaudhry says it is particularly reassuring for the FLP, which was twice robbed of its mandate to govern by coups executed or supported by the military which were the 1987 coups by Sitiveni Rabuka and the 2000 coup by frontman George Speight.

Chaudhry adds the arms for this coup were obtained from the military.

He says the 2006 Bainimarama coup was also the handiwork of the military.

Chaudhry says people should vote without fear.
