Cancer Society urges women to prioritize medical treatment for breast cancer over herbal remedies
Fiji Cancer Society nurse and Project Facilitator, Alumita Bera

When women who have breast cancer and opt for herbal treatment realise that the treatment is not working, it may be too late because when cancer cells start multiplying and growing inside the tissue, they will never stop because cancer does not sleep and should be medically treated.

While speaking on fijivillage Straight Talk with Vijay Narayan, Fiji Cancer Society nurse and Project Facilitator, Alumita Bera says women tend to get discharged and go for herbal medicine.

She says when they opt to go home and not listen to the doctor's advice, that is when it gets worse and when the pain starts, it is too late.

Breast cancer survivor, Farnia Simion says she and her husband did not want their family to know about her diagnosis and chose herbal treatment.

She says when they could not hide it anymore, they had to go to the hospital but says that had she gone to the hospital earlier, she could have been better.
