CT scanner at Lautoka Hospital is not working since the first wave of COVID-19 – Dr. Waqainabete

Minister for Health, Dr. Ifereimi Waqainabete confirms the CT scanner at Lautoka Hospital is not working since the first wave of COVID-19 and it couldn't be repaired.

CT scan is a useful diagnostic tool for detecting diseases and injuries.

Dr. Waqainabete says the 10-year-old CT scanner was bought in 2011 for $1.5 million.

He confirms they are procuring a CT scanner through Japan aid which is a total of $10 million.

When questioned by SODELPA MP, Jese Saukuru, Dr Waqainabete also confirms the asthma station at the Lautoka Hospital is working.

He says the asthma station was moved out of the hospital as part of their fever screening in the midst of COVID-19 however the station remains operational.
