There is further support for people who are still struggling due to the effects of COVID-19 as the Association of Banks has extended the COVID Relief Packages till September 30th 2021.
However, Chairman Rakesh Ram says this will be done on a case by case basis and any new or extended bank loan deferrals will not be automatic.
He says it will be available to those customers who genuinely need assistance.
Ram says they recognize that a number of Fijians are still facing tough times and they will continue to support them.
He says there are several options available to customers depending on their circumstances.
Ram is encouraging customers who require further assistance to contact their banks to discuss and agree on individual financial needs.
He further says some customers may be in a position to restart their loan repayments and those who can resume should do so.
Ram says many customers have already restarted payments on deferred loans which shows they understand the benefits of getting back on track if they can.
