Businesswoman who allegedly posted fake news about QVS closing charged

A 47 year old businesswoman who allegedly posted fake news regarding Queen Victoria School has been charged and will be produced in the Suva Magistrates Court today.

She has been charged with one count of Malicious Act.

The accused had allegedly posted on her Facebook page that the government will close down QVS.

She had also claimed in the post that teachers who have reached 55 years will be retired on the spot, and also made a call for ex-students to organise protest marches and meetings.

Education Minister, Rosy Akbar has stressed that the information being spread are totally false.

Akbar says the Ministry of Education has just built a new 3 storey classroom block and it is ready for commissioning.

The Education Minister also said all teachers will also complete the whole school year if they retire within an academic year.
