Brothers, Iowane Savenaca and Lorosio Civoniceva have been awarded Certificates of Commendation and money by Police for their actions that led to the arrest of a robbery suspect last month.

Police say the two witnessed an 18-year-old man allegedly grab a mobile phone from a woman who was a passenger in the bus they were travelling in while the bus was stationary at the Rewa Dairy traffic lights in Nabua.

They say the two pursued the accused and managed to catch him in a cassava patch beside the RFMF Engineering barracks and he was then handed to military officers before he was escorted to the Valelevu Police Station where he was charged and produced in court.

18-year-old Nasinu Secondary School student, Lorosio Civoniceva says their upbringing and being the sons of a Police officer taught them the importance of standing up to wrongdoings.

He says he is requesting all Fijians to please help the police in preventing crimes around the country and if they witness illegal activities then they must seek help and report it to the nearest station.

Acting Commissioner, Rusiate Tudravu thanked the two for their courage and for being great examples for the younger generation.

He says combating illegal activities is not the sole responsibility of police but everyone has a role to play and the two have certainly demonstrated that through their brave actions.
