The body of the 5-year-old girl who was washed away by strong river currents has been recovered along Waisomo River.
Police say she was crossing the river with her 32-year-old aunt and seven other children after returning from picking edible fiddlehead fern when the incident happened yesterday.
Police say the body has been escorted to the Korovou Hospital to await post mortem.
Investigation into the incident is underway.
