Facing a short turnaround before playing the Reds in Brisbane on Friday, the Super Rugby Trans-Tasman table-topping Blues have a big job to prepare for another step up in the quest for a finals berth.

The Reds demolished the Chiefs in a powerful display to become the only Australian side to claim a win in the competition so far.

Blues coach Leon MacDonald, a former teammate at the Crusaders of Reds coach Brad Thorn, knows what to expect.

MacDonald said he had been nervous before the 38-10 win over the Brumbies on Saturday, but it had been a good performance.

This week, the Crusaders will take on the Western Force at 7.05pm Friday, the Reds will face the Blues at 9.45pm Friday, the Highlanders will play the Waratahs at 7.05pm Saturday, the Brumbies will meet the Hurricanes at 9.45pm Saturday and the Chiefs will host the Rebels at 3.30pm Sunday.
