A bill to amend the 2013 Constitution is expected to be tabled in Parliament for approval according to Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka.
Rabuka says a Constitution Review Committee will be established to look into the Constitution and see what needs to be done.
He says he is confident that the two-thirds requirement for the amendment is achievable in parliament, and knows the numbers who have joined in supporting this move.
Last week, the Supreme Court advised that the 2013 Fijian Constitution can be amended by the support of two thirds of Members of Parliament and a majority of those registered voters who vote for the change in a referendum after the parliamentary vote.
Chapter 11 of the Constitution previously required 75 percent of the Members of Parliament and 75 percent of all registered voters in a national referendum to vote for changes in any other section of the Constitution.
