Banuve Tabakaucoro wants more competition
Pacific sprint king Banuve Tabakaucoro

“I need people to get faster in order for me to compete”

This has been stressed by Pacific sprint king Banuve Tabakaucoro who failed to meet the Olympic qualifying time of 10.05 seconds despite finishing first in the National Easter Championship 100 metres open final at the ANZ Stadium.

Tabakaucoro who was representing the Laucala club ran a time of 10.79 seconds.

The Easter National Championship was sanctioned by World Athletics as an Olympic Games Qualification Event.

Tabakaucoro says he is physically fit and right now it is about going to a competition that will have athletes that will push him.

Aaron Powell of Gospel Saints settled for second place with a time of 11.15 seconds while Suva Grammar School sprinter Tevita Sokiveta finished third with a time of 11.22 seconds.

Sokiveta is part of the Veiuto club.

He is one of the favourites to win the Senior Boys 100 metres in the Coca-Cola Games this month.
