Alec Baldwin is celebrating the end of his four-year run playing Donald Trump on Saturday Night Live as the current US president is set to be replaced by Joe Biden in a few months.

Baldwin tweeted that he does not believe he has ever been this overjoyed to lose a job before.

Baldwin, who's impression of Trump became a mainstay of the comedy sketch show, also shared a snap of him dressed as the former Apprentice star for what may be the last time.

The latest episode of SNL was taped just a few hours after the presidential race was called in Biden's favour, with Baldwin's Trump echoing the current president's refusal to concede.
