Baka Books bid to provide vibrant safe space for book lovers in Suva

In a bid to provide a vibrant and safe space for book lovers in Suva, Baka Books Store opened its new branch in Suva last week aiming to offer a wide range of genres and hosting events for the community.

Baka Books was founded by three women namely Akanisi Nabalarua and Samantha Magick who both live in Suva with Adarshani Vikash, who is currently studying in the UK.

The branch is located at 23 MacGregor Road, Suva.

In a statement, the founders say Baka Books is dedicated to fostering a love for reading and supporting local and Pacific authors by featuring their works prominently in the store.

They say a range of new Pacific-focused books from Fiji, Papua New Guinea, Hawaii, Australia and New Zealand are already in stock, alongside global general fiction and non-fiction titles.

They add the store also has a wide range of preloved books, and dedicated young adult and children’s sections.

The founders say their goal is to create a welcoming environment where readers can discover new books, engage in meaningful discussions, and participate in a variety of literary events, such as book launches, reading hours and workshops.
