Former FijiFirst Party General Secretary, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum stresses that Voreqe Bainimarama is the leader of the FijiFirst and will continue to remain the leader of the party.
Sayed-Khaiyum says he, Bainimarama and Salesh Kumar are foundation members of the FijiFirst.
When questioned in what capacity he is having a press conference at the party headquarters this afternoon, Sayed-Khaiyum who has already resigned as General Secretary of the party says he is a foundation member of the party.
He also says they are awaiting the appeal process after the prison sentence of Bainimarama earlier today.
According to the FijiFirst Constitution, the party’s foundation members have all the rights and privileges of members of the party but shall also have perpetuity subject to the rights of the Leadership Committee to terminate such membership in accordance with the Constitution, to automatically be members of the Leadership Committee for as long as they are foundation members, and have the exclusive right to vote for and appoint to or remove persons from the Central Executive Committee.
