Patients of Namau Nursing Station in Ba will not have to sit around outside, under the trees, in the hot sun or rain, while waiting to be seen by the nurse as the BSP Financial Group has completed its latest Branch Community Project by constructing a sheltered patient’s waiting area and other general maintenance works at the Namau Nursing Station.
BSP Country Head Haroon Ali says this was a project chosen by the staff of BSP Ba and Tavua in consultation with the Ministry of Health.
He says as Fiji’s largest Bank, they strive for business excellence to meet shareholder expectations and recognise their responsibility to give back to the community and vanua that they serve.
Ali also says their values inspire their Corporate Social Responsibility programs from delivering banking services to all Fijians, including those in remote locations, to their Annual Community Project initiatives that leave a lasting benefit for communities.
He further says after the Namau Nursing Station was approved as a community project, staff from Ba and Tavua branches mobilised to deliver the new sheltered waiting area, upgraded the ablution blocks and also installed water tanks to allow the facility to operate when the water supply was disrupted.
Meanwhile, the Senior Medical Officer of Ba, Doctor Emali Tuirara acknowledged BSP for its contribution and says, the assistance will be of great benefit and make a big difference in their patient’s service experience.
The Namau Nursing station serves a population of 3,000 residents across several villages and settlements who are primarily engaged in agriculture and livestock farming.
Some other recently completed projects at rural nursing stations were in Nawaicoba, Nadrau and Coqeloa.
